3. PNEUMATICS - PRESSURE REDUCER & LUNG DEMAND VALVE & HOSES
a) Pressure Reducer (1st Stage Reducer)

  • The reducer shall be capable of supplying required airflow for demand valve ,the Nominal flow for pressure between 300 bar to 20 bar would be 1000 lit/ min.
  • The reducer should have inbuilt outlet allowing an air supply to be added for additional rescue hood or full face mask (Second Man Connection) or for Airline connection.
  • The first stage reducer shall consist of a balanced piston assembly
  • The pressure reducer should be set to generate a medium pressure of 6-8 bar(around 7 bar)
  • The pressure reducer should be fitted with a safety valve which should open if the medium pressure exceeds the permitted limit in the event of an operating abnormality.

b) Lung Demand Valve (2nd Stage Reducer)

  • The automated LDV should be compact, ergonomic and robust to offer excellent respiratory comfort for any level of user workload, made up of PBT/Polyamide with silicon rubber housing.
  • Should be quick connectible from the front side of the mask and can be mounted on the waist belt when not connected to face piece. Once connected to mask the demand valve shall unlock only by pushing the click buttons.
  • The second stage reducer shall consist of a tilt valve /balance piston assembly.
  • Shall activate immediately after connecting to the mask and shall maintain positive pressure inside the mask when donned. When demand valve is unlocked from mask, the air supply shall automatically cut off.
  • Should have the output breathing air flow capability upto 500 lpm .
  • Shall have a swiveling connection with the medium pressure hose for ease of movement while connected to facemask.
  • LDV shall be connected by Quick release coupling to medium pressure tubing.
  • Shall be equipped with a Bypass button so that if desired the LDV should allow the user to regulate / control it manually.
  • The design of the LDV shall be such that it should open / replaced from the hose directly, instead of replacing the entire Medium Pressure Hose alongwith LDV.

Hoses

  • Hoses shall be flexible and non-kinking type and shall permit the free head movement.
  • Shall not restrict or close the supply at any time.
  • The medium pressure hose comprising the demand valve must pass over the wearer's right while the high pressure hose comprising pressure gauge must pass over the wearer's left shoulder side.
  • The hoses should not have any metallic outer cover and it should be hydro tested at twice the operating pressure.

PRESSURE GAUGE and WARNING WHISTLE

  • Should have a luminescent dial encased in a flame retardant & shock absorbing rubber cover.
  • Gauge shall be integrated with the warning whistle in a streamlined hose without any manifold block
  • Pressure gauge should have precision class 1.6 (± 1.6 %).
  • Pressure gauge shall have rubber cover with visible blow out release at the back with hole to gauge cover. This prevents breakage of gauge glass due to excessive pressure.
  • The pneumatic gauge shall be located around the left shoulder
  • Warning whistle should be a self actuating at a residual cylinder pressure of 50 +/- 5 bar. It should have more than 90db sound intensity and should be positioned on the left shoulder in front & close to the user face and ear.
  • Warning whistle should be high-pressure activated & medium pressure driven.
  • Whistle should not consume air more than 5 lpm.
  • The whistle should sound continuously till the cylinder is shut or till all the breathing air is utilized.
